Hi everyone! I’m excited to tell you that I have my first pattern available for download on the Connecting Threads website. Click on the quilt image to the right for a link to their quilt patterns page.

You may remember this design called Squash Blossoms that was published in the March/April 2014 issue of Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting. I really love the colors and the design for this quilt.

The fabric was from the Quilting Treasures' Cow girl up collection. The colors remind me of the geological formations called The Book Cliffs. I saw them on the border between Colorado and Utah along Highway I-70.

The Book Cliffs are represented by the zig zag horizontal rows. The alternating rows contain a traditional block known as squash blossom. I've had my mind on this block for a long time. This seemed like the right time for including it in a design. This quilt was finished with long arm quilting by Janice Roy.

I’ve posted some pictures sent to me by Katherine Kohler of her version of the Squash Blossom quilt design. It looks beautiful! I especially love the glamour shot. Katherine put together her own group of tonal prints for the grey, brown and turquoise palette. I love her fabric choices. She also sent detail shots of the quilting. Nice work, Katherine!

I love the quilt squash blossom and want to make it as a wedding gift for my son. He and his special girl have a farm with that name. I want to make a queen size quilt. Do you have instructions for that

I love this quilt also and am making it for my niece's wedding. It reminds me of a horse blanket which is perfect for her as she has been active in equestrian riding all of her life.

I am having trouble with the triangles for the zigzag. I guess I thought I was a better quilter than I am. Anyway, I have been viewing You Tubes for tutorials and learning a lot.

My question for you is, can you help me with measurements to make the zigzag using strip piecing? It's in my skill level and the points are always sharp.

Also, I am also making a queen size for this wedding gift. Do you have suggestions to help me with additions to the basic pattern?

I am so grateful for any help or comments you may share. I am working on scrap fabrics right now and making a consistent scant 1/4 inch seam.

I am in Kansas City, working as a nurse for 33 years and finding that when I'm in my basement sewing, I'm happy and enjoying myself very much. It's tough to get frustrated with my beginners skills to make this lovely pattern in her colors, soft mint green, orange, like the roses she will use for her wedding, and soft yellow.

A heart-felt thank you for any way you can help me make a successful and beautiful quilt from your pattern. I would like for you to be proud of my efforts, even though I am a beginner.

Blessings of light and love to you and yours,
Sarah Jean

I made this quilt from the pattern in Love,of Quilting for my sister-in-law when she moved to Arizona. The colors of tan, olive and cranberry fit perfectly in her decor and enchanced the fantastic pattern. I plan to make it again for a former neighbor from Oregon who is moving to Tucson. Thanks for the wonderful pattern.

Thanks for sharing. That is so awesome! You're very generous. I'm glad the you enjoy the pattern so much. I really like the way the negative space interacts with the positive. And who does love zig zags, right? Thank you again for your support and for connecting with me. It's always a pleasure to chat with a fellow quilter.
