Janice lives in West Haven,
Connecticut with her family. Her fascination with sewing
started at an early age as she was lulled to sleep by the sound
of the sewing machine her mother kept in her bedroom.
After learning the basics of sewing in a home economics class, she embraced sewing with a passion. Mostly a self-taught seamstress, Janice started making clothing for herself. After gaining confidence she started to make dress suits for an older sister and eventually making a wedding dress for another sister.
Janice is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) in New York City. After completing her degree in Fashion design she worked at Warnaco Lingerie as an estimator. Later she decided to be a full-time mom with a part time career as a custom clothier. Janice's work in custom clothing covered a vast scope, but formalwear and wedding attire were her specialties. Although she enjoyed this work it never seemed to satisfy her creative spirit. Once she discovered quilting, she fell in love and gave up fashion.
Janice has never looked back since deciding to express herself through quilting. She finds quilting much more fulfilling than fashion. She now designs quilting projects for Quilting Treasures fabrics. Plus some of her quilts have appeared in publications such as Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting and Quiltmaker magazines.
Janice likes to say "The best part about quilting is that there are no fittings involved and quilts never go out of style. Plus you can be seen using the same quilt more than once in a week, a month or a year. You can't do that with fashion."
