I have some great news to share. My friend Janice Roy and I collaborated on a design together for the National contest; New Quilts from an Old Favorite 2014. The theme block is the Carolina Lily for 2014. I posted one below. I don't think I can show you the actual quilt. So, here is a representation of the quilt that I made using my EQ7 design software. OMG, I'm soooooo excited!!!!!
Some time ago Quilting Treasures released a collection of fabrics copied from a quilt at the Virginia Quilt Museum (VQM). The quilt is known as “Chintz Medallion”. It’s a beautiful quilt made of a variety of Brown and Turkey Red Chintz Fabrics. I was asked to write the directions for quilters to use to accurately recreate this beautiful. Unfortunately it was brought to my attention that there were some issues with the construction and cutting directions. The major issue is the corner of the Blue Garland border. After reviewing the directions that were released from Quilting Treasures I found that an incorrect image of the quilt was given to the person who edits directions. So they changed the directions to make the picture. It was an image created during the process of trying to recreate the quilt with my Electric Quilt software. It was never meant to go into the directions. I have made the corrections and gave them to the wonderful quilter who brought it to my attention. She has completed the quilt top and tells me that the corrections are good. Please contact me if you have bought this kit or obtained the pattern and would like the changes sent to you. I’m sorry for any inconvenience and hope that your quilt turns out beautifully. I’m posting images of the quilt top made by the Quilter who contacted me. It looks really awesome! Goodbye for now, Janice I'm a proud member of the Connecticut Piecemakers Quilt Guild. Every two years we have a wonderful quilt show. Our next show is April 26 & 27 at the Crown Plaza in Southbury CT. For each quilt show a committee of members comes up with a quilt design and construct it with help from the rest of the guild. I decided to take on the job of chairperson for the raffle quilt committee. The quilts name is Batik Beauty. It's 92" x 92" (queen size). The quilting was done by guild member Janice Roy. It came out beautiful if I do say so myself. The proceeds for the raffle quilt will go to the CT Food Bank, The Norma Pfreim Breast Care Center and Girl Scout Camperships. Girl Scout Camperships benefit members who might not be able to join the rest of the troupe for activities because of financial burdens on their families. Tickets for the raffle quilt are now available for sale. They are $1 each. You can purchase them from a guild member, if you know one. Another opportunity for you to buy tickets is this Saturday at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford CT. The Autism Services & Resources folks are having a fair there and were kind enough to give us a table. How awesome are they?! I'll be there from 9am till 3pm with the actual quilt. Come on down and give it a chance. I'll post here when I know of more locations where you can purchase raffle tickets. |
